Pella Rotary, Dollars For Scholars Soup Supper Feb 4

Pella Dollars for Scholars (DFS) along with the Pella Rotary Club will be hosting a fundraising soup supper at Pella Christian High on Tuesday, February 4, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Pella/Pella Christian basketball game that evening. Chicken and rice soup, chili, breadsticks and cookies will be available for a free will donation, with funds going to support Rotary Club programs and DFS scholarships that are available to all Pella and PC seniors.

Dollars for Scholars is a local, volunteer-run, community-based scholarship foundation. The Pella chapter was organized in 2000 with the goal of providing every senior who graduates locally with money to use toward further education. Funding for the program comes from Pella community individuals, businesses and organizations. In their 13 years Pella DFS has awarded $76,200 in scholarships to over 150 graduates of Pella schools.

The Pella Rotary Club is a member of District 6000 of Rotary International. The objective of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideals of service in both personal and community life. They also develop opportunities for service, maintain high ethical standards in businesses and professions, and advance international understanding, goodwill and peace.

Both organizations would like to thank the Central Dining Services and staff for providing the food for the previous soup supper held on Jan. 7 at Pella High. Thanks also to the parents, students and community members who have supported both Rotary and DFS over the years.
