April 25 Pella Farmer's Market

Pella's Farmer's Market begins April 25 at First Reformed Church every Thursday from 3-6 pm. Great plants and early spring products!  (Will not be held the week of Tulip Time so be sure to get those plants and goodies on the 25th).  Some new vendors- and trusted veterans, too!





April 25 Pella Public Library presents Saving the Earth with Art: Crafts using Recycled Materials

Free class offered at the library as part of Money Smart Week, 3:30-4:30 pm.  Call the library at 628-4268 to reserve your spot.





April 26-27 Third Church presents Dream Interpretation Seminar

Learn how to easily understand your dreams and how God is communicating to you. Speaker Mark Virkler; worship with Now Serving 7. Times are Friday April 26 6:30-9:30 pm and Saturday April 27 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Tickets are $30 and are available online at www.trcpella.com/dream-interpretation-seminar.





April 26 Central College presents Rock-A-Pella

A Capella Choir performing, directed by Mark Babcock. In Douwstra Auditorium at 7 pm.





April 26 Wartburg College Castle Singers Concert

Wartburg College Castle Singers will perform a concert at Peace Lutheran Church in Pella at 7 pm.  The singers perform jazz vocal music.  The concert is free, but a freewill donation will be taken.  There is a reception following the concert.  For more information contact ceysink@hotmail.com.





April 26 Adoption/Foster Care Information Event

Are you a prospective foster care/adoptive family? Have you thought about it for the distant future? Maybe you'd like to know more about it or hear stories from families who have been through it or are going through it? You & your family should come to Federated Fellowship (309 Roosevelt Rd in Pella) at 7 pm this Friday, April 26 to hear more about adoption/foster care from families and social workers (Bethany Christian Services &Iowakidsnet.org). April 27 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine, Lunch & Vine Wreath Workshop

We'll show you how to make your own grapevine wreath at this 4th annual workshop. Then, after your labors, enjoy a light lunch featuring a Mango Chutney Chicken Salad Croissant, Crunchy Cabbage Salad, and Lemon Pound Cake, along with a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine. 10 am- 1 pm. Price: $25 per person, plus tax-Harvest Club & 1 Guest Price: $20 per person, plus tax (includes vines for 1 grapevine wreath, lunch, 1 glass of wine, and gratuity).





April 28 Central College presents "A Tribute to Americana and the Armed Services" Concert

Come attend what is certain to be an exciting performance and tribute of America's armed forces! Symphonic Wind Ensemble and College-Community Band at 4 pm in Douwstra Auditorium, Central College. Free to attend.





April 29 Tulip Time Dutch Baking Contest

Submit your delightful Dutch cooking at the 8th Annual Tulip Time Dutch Baking Contest. Will take place at the Sterrenburg Library at the Pella Historical Village at 6:30 pm (registration from 5:15-6:15 pm). Categories this year are Pella Bologna Dish or Dutch Cookie. May 1 Klompen Classic 5k and Concert

This is no tiptoe through the Tulips! The Annual Tulip Time Klompen Classic consists of a 5K road race and a 5K walk through the streets of Pella. A short kids fun run is also included. The Klompen Classic is the primary fundraiser for Crossroads of Pella, a local non-profit agency that provides many types of assistance to those in need, but free counseling is the trademark. NEW THIS YEAR: 5K CONCERT! Kevin King and the Iowa Rock & Roll All-Starts will be performing on the Tulip Toren, grandstand side, from 5:45-6:45 pm. May 1-4 Quilt Show

Pella Area Quilt Guild's annual Tulip Time Quilt Show is one of the "Dutch Treasure's" you won't want to miss during Tulip Time in Pella.  There will be over 100 quilts displayed in the Pella Opera House in downtown Pella during the Tulip Festival.  The quilt show opens on Wednesday at noon until 6 pm and continues Thursday and Friday from 9 am until 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm.  There will be a raffle quilt, and gift area. $4 adults, children free.





May 2-4 Pella Tulip Time 2013

May 2-4 Union Street Players present "The Dominie's Wife" 
The Union Street Players bring Pella history alive on stage with the "The Dominie's Wife". This one-hour play, the work of Pella writers Carol Van Klompenburg and Mary Meuzelaar, dramatizes the lives of Pella founders Rev. Hendrik and Mareah Scholte. Come and share the hardships of Mareah's arrival on an empty prairie, her discovery that the family's treasured Delft had shattered during the ocean voyage, and enjoy the humorous visit from the church elders as they declare to Hendrik that Mareah is too pretty to be a proper dominie's wife. Pella Opera House; Thursday and Friday at 4:30 pm and Saturday at 12:30 pm; $8.





May 2-3 The Fred Gazzo Band

Freddy Gazzo and his band have been delighting Des Moines area listeners for years. They feature the musical stylings of Michael, Bublé, Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack with a big-band sound to back it up! Dancers welcome! Thursday and Friday at 6:30 pm, Pella Opera House. Tickets $16.





May 2 Pella Opera House presents film "Oklahoma!"

You'll love it when the wind comes sweeping down the plain in this audience participation showing of the classic film. Take a fun break from Tulip Time activities and enjoy a classic in a fun new way. 11:30 am at the Opera House. Tickets: $5.





May 3 Pella Opera House presents film "The Sound of Music"

The hills are truly alive when you see the Sound of Music with audience participation! Enjoy a classic in a fun new way during Tulip Time. Tickets: $5; 11am at the Pella Opera House.





May 4 Central College's Flying Pans at Tulip Time

Hear the unique sounds of Flying Pans, a steel drum band, during the festivities of Tulip Time. At the Pella Opera House, 4:30 pm.





May 5 Tulip Time Sunday Worship

Community worship service will be held at 11 am at the Vermeer Pavilion. Pastor Rafer Owens of the Faith Inspirational Missionary Baptist Church in Compton, CA will be the featured speaker. Music by Pella Christian and Pella Community High School and Pella Community Eighth Grade Select Choir. Offering will support the Pella Ministerial Association Transient Fund and the Compton Initiative.

Ongoing: Thursday Bingo Night 

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church). Game prices range from $0.50 to 2.00 a game or $17 for a game packet. For more information contact Peggy Moriarity at 641-628-1549.
