Accident outside Pella

Pella — No details are available yet, but drivers traveling westbound on Highway 163 caught this sight from the snowstorm.

A crew appeared to be trying to remove the truck, which appeared to have substantial damage to the cab, around noon on Wednesday. The truck is in a ditch, east of Barrows Avenue, east of Pella.

Our attempts to learn more about what happened have thus far proved unsuccessful. The incident occurred across the county line in Mahaska County, so the Marion County Sheriff's Office was unaware of the accident. There is no report on the Iowa State Patrol's website. The Mahaska County Sheriff's Office response was that the deputy who handled the accident had not filed a report, so no details were available. There were no law enforcement vehicles on scene when the photos were taken.

We'll pass details along when we receive them.
