February will bring a live theatre production of a comedy titled "The Dining Room". This production will be directed by Pella’s own Kevin McQuade and features local actors.
On March 1, the Pella Opera House will be filled with enthusiastic kids, ready to sing along with Grammy award winning The Okee Dokee Brothers, right here in Pella. This is a matinee concert highly recommended for children ages 3 to 8; tickets will go fast. Also in March, Elvis fans will enjoy Joseph Hall's Elvis Rock n' Remember Tribute show. Joseph Hall has traveled much of the world performing high energy shows with much success.
April at the Opera House will feature Rock Sirenz, a live rock show featuring the songs of many female rock goddesses such as Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Cher, Pink, Janis, Tina, Heart, and more. Towards the end of April, Pella Opera House will be holding its first annual "Pella's Got Talent" event. Those interested in auditioning must sign up by April 17, 2014. Auditions will take place in front of an audience and will be a great opportunity for citizens to see all of the talent in Pella.
May will bring performances by The Fred Gazzo Band, Tiptoe Through the Tulips, with Davis Folkerts on the Barton Theatre Organ, and the Central College Flying Pans Steel Drum Band.
In June, children can enjoy another theatre production entitled Merlin's Apprentice and the Deadly Dragon, with Camp Creamery. Children ages 7 to 18 may audition June 16 at 10 a.m. Following the camp will be a performance with magical spells, a deadly dragon, and Merlin's apprentice!
The films, which are free, are another fun way to enjoy the Pella Opera House. Grab some popcorn and enjoy classical films such as these: Babette's Feast, My Fair Lady, White Christmas, South Pacific, The Quiet Man (a good Saint Patrick’s day celebration), Lilies of the Field, Saving Private Ryan, and State Fair.
