October 31 Central College presents Convocation: "Welcome the Stranger"

A convocation with Intersections International, a  New York-based non-governmental organization, will be held at 11 am in Douwstra Auditorium. The convocation will be based on what Intersections International learns while in residence at Central and all in attendance are encouraged to be involved.





October 31 Trunk or Treat!

Take your children to Trunk or Treat to enjoy Halloween without the dangers of crossing a street! Trunks will be decorated and candy given to children. At the Trinity Reformed Church Parking Lot on the corner of East Third and Franklin from 6-8 pm. Free, anyone is welcome to participate!





October 31 PRHC Trick or Treat Event

Pella Regional Health Center will host a Halloween Open House on Thursday, October 31, from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Long Term Care Activity Room. Kids can trick-or-treat inside in a safe, enclosed area as residents pass out candy. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors may park along Jefferson Street and use the south Long Term Care entrance. For more information, call 641-628-6660.





October 31 - November 2 Pella Christian High School presents "The Music Man"

Pella Christian High School's Theatre Troupe presents Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man".  Performances nightly at 7 pm from October 31-November 2 in PCHS's Vermeer Auditorium. Reserved tickets; cost is $6 for adults, $4 for students. 641-628-4440 with questions or to purchase.





November 1 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine & Pasta Night

Dinner begins with an Italian Salad of Romaine, Tomatoes, Black Olives, Red Onions, Banana Peppers, and Italian Dressing paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight followed by Cheese and Spinach Stuffed Manicotti paired with Tassel Ridge Pizzeria & Pasta Too!®. For dessert, enjoy a Poached Pear with Zabaglione Sauce paired with Oskyfizzante® Pink. Wine tastings at 6 pm with dinner at 6:30 pm. November 1 Pella Opera House presents Branson on the Road

Branson on the Road has been featured on national television and can be seen regularly on RFD-TV. The star of the trio, Debbie Horton, was Johnny Cash's lead guitarist for almost 20 years. They perform Americana, bluegrass, rockabilly, classic country, and their family-friendly show features a lot of comedy and rhinestones! 7 pm at the Pella Opera House. November 2 Women's Conference: Become Unleashed

GET YOUR TICKET TO JENNIE ALLEN conference, Become Unleashed! Jennie, the author of Stuck, Chase, and Anything, is coming to Pella! Jennie's passion is to communicate a bigger God through writing and teaching. She will be leading the upcoming Pella women's conference, Become Unleashed, which will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 9-3 at Third Church in Pella. Worship will be provided by Now Serving 7. Tickets are on sale now at the Sanctuary Coffeehouse, Christian Books & Gifts ($30) or online ($32) at www.unleashed-conference.com. November 2 Central College presents French Wine Dinner

After a very successful launch of the International Wine Pairing Dinner, Central College is  planning a second dinner to feature French wines and food.  Reservations will be needed by Oct. 30 for the dinner on Nov. 2 at 6:30 in the Dave and Ardie Sutphen Common Room.  This dinner is $40 per person.  Please e-mail reimert@central.edu to make a reservation.  A portion of the cost goes to support  cultural events at Central.





November 3 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Holiday Appetizers

Take your holiday entertaining up a notch as Chef Heather demonstrates simple yet elegant appetizers that will wow your partygoers. Parmesan Canapés, Dried Apricots with Goat Cheese-Pistachio Spread, and a special surprise appetizer will each be paired with the perfect Tassel Ridge wine. Chef Heather will also show you how to make Tassel Ridge Candlelight Hot Apple Cider, a great drink for cold nights! Enjoy samples and take home recipe cards. November 3 Central College Community Orchestra with Cynthia Doggett

Recital Hall at Cox Snow Music Center, 4 pm. Free and open to the public.





November 4-7 Pella Family Dentistry's Halloween Candy Give-Back Program

Pella Family Dentistry will be collecting wrapped and unopened Halloween candy from kids aged 2-12. We will be sending the candy to US Military deployed in combat through Operation Gratitude. The troops love the candy, but also love to give it out to the children in the communities they patrol. Come help us support this great cause! Each child may bring up to 5 pounds of candy and will receive $1 per pound in return. From 8 am to 5 pm at 2300 Washington Street.





November 5 Pella Area Quilters Guild

Pella Area Quilters Guild will hold their meeting at 7 PM in room 101 at Third Reformed Church. The program will be presented by Debi Henninger. She explores the fascinating world of the depression-era hobo through the culture's hidden language. Quilter and shop owner Debra G. Henninger has taken more than 55 authentic "hobo signs" and created original quilt blocks and published a book on this subject. Members of the Pella Area Quilters Guild have a wide range quilting abilities and interests and welcomes guests and new members to every meeting.  A time is provided for show and tell of projects.





November 5 & 7 Tryouts for Pella Soccer Club Premier Team

November 6 Central College presents Faculty Administration and Symphonic Wind Ensemble Variety Show Fundraiser

Free concert- including snacks- at Graham Hall, Central College, at 7:30 pm. Faculty and Administration slated to participate, including President Mark Putnam, Class Deans Leslie Duinink and Anne Petrie, Librarian Director Natalie Hutchinson, and more. Audience members are encouraged to make free will donations for their favorite act(s). Proceeds support the Symphonic Wind Ensemble trip to Dallas and student outreach programs.





November 7 First Women's Bible Study on the Psalms, the Apostles and the Christ

Ladies, an in-depth 8 week Bible study The Psalms, The Apostles, and the Christ will begin Thursday, November 7 at 9:30 am at First Reformed Church, Pella. You will come away with a completely new perspective on the Psalms and how Christ is central to them. November 7 Blood Donor Drive

Donate blood and give the gift of life! At Third Church from 11am - 5:30 pm. To sign up for donation times, go online to www.redcrossblood.org or call Ryan at 641-780-3266. On the day of donation, please eat a good meal, bring a photo id, and enter the church through the lower north level.





November 7 HyVee's Holiday Show and Business After Hours

Sample delicious food, wines and spirits at this year's Hy-Vee Holiday Show and Chamber Business After Hours! See how the great staff of caterers can lighten your holiday load, and sample local wines and drinks to compliment your meals. At the old Movie Gallery store across from Hy Vee Wine and Spirits from 5-8 pm. Free, although a free will donation will be taken to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Don't miss out on the event that has been called "Pella's biggest social event of the year"!





November 7 Main Street Advisory Group: Maximize Your Social Security Benefits Seminar

Specifically for those nearing retirement age, this free seminar will answer questions you have about social security and help you maximize your upcoming social security benefits. Join us for appetizers at 5:30pm; the presentation followed by Q&A will take place from 6:00-6:30pm at Monarchs Restaurant and Lounge in Pella. November 8-10 Central College presents Flying Pans Fall Shows

Steel drum band performance in Douwstra Auditorium, Central College, at 7:30 pm each evening. $8 for adults, $5 senior citizens and children, Free to Central College students with ID.





November 9 Bethany Christian Services Dinner and Dessert Gala

Bethany Christian Services Dinner and Dessert Gala will be held at the Vermeer Global Pavilion in Pella in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month. All are invited to this exciting fundraising event, which will include a nice meal, a short program and a live dessert auction to benefit our expectant parent advocacy program. November 9 Tulip Queen Announcement Party

The 2014 Tulip Time Royal Court will be chosen by a panel of judges on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the Pella Christian High School Auditorium. Reserved tickets will be available starting Tuesday, October 29 from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Scholte Church, Historical Village and Museum. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the Vermeer Mill Interpretive Center through Friday, November 8.





November 9 Pella Opera House presents Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience
