PC students named to Honor Bands

Six Pella Christian Grade School instrumental musicians were selected to perform in the 2013 South Central Iowa Bandmaster’s Association District Festival.

The three Honor Bands represent grade levels 7-8 and consist of 100 students each. Each band will perform a 25 minute portion of the evening concert. More than 300 students from approximately 75 schools representing 13 counties in the South Central Iowa District will participate.

Four Seventh grade band students were selected to the honor band through advance progress in technique books and outstanding musicianship. They are:

-Lindsay Breon - French Horn, daughter of Tim and Shannon Breon

-Jacque Lensing - Alto Saxophone, daughter of Dale and Lisa Lensing

-Joshua Van Hal - Trumpet, son of Roger and Lanai Van Hal

-Jaydon Vande Noord - Trombone, son of Jeremy and Jodi Vande Noord

Eighth grade students traveled to Waukee Middle School on October 1st to audition on scales and etudes in order to earn a spot in the District Honor Band. Selected for the Eighth Grade District Honor Band for 2013 are:

-Jakob Van Vark - Trombone, son of Curtis and Donna Van Vark

-Grant Van Zee - Baritone, son of Brian and Melynda Van Zee

The District Honor Band Festival was held at Knoxville High School on Tuesday, November 5.
