Pella Kids Support Make-A-Wish® Iowa

The Chronicle

Pella — Madeline Webb, Erica Nossaman, Kinzi Vanwyk, and Paighton Malek decided to help children with life-threatening medical conditions when Mrs. Shultz, their Social Studies teacher at Pella Junior High, gave the class an assignment to make a difference. The girls came across the Make-A-Wish® website, read about the Macy’s Believe Campaign and decided to write letters to Santa to raise money for wish kids.

This year marks the fifth year of Macy’s Believe campaign benefitting Make-A-Wish. Macy’s donated $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million, for every stamped letter to Santa. With the help of their Social Studies teacher and their principal, the girls were able to set up a table during lunch hours and ask students to write letters to help raise money for Make-A-Wish kids. By the end of the Believe campaign, the girls had collected 2,000 letters, resulting in $2,000 that will benefit Make-A-Wish.
