The Partnership for Engineering Educational Resources for Schools (PEERS) invites Iowa students from Jasper, Mahaska and Marion counties in fifth through eighth grades, as well as their parents, to explore the world of engineering by “playing” with robots, touring interactive stations and participating in hands-on activities at the Explore Engineering Event. The free adventure takes place Tues., April 6, from 5:45 – 9:00 p.m. at Pella Corporation’s corporate headquarters at 102 Main Street in Pella, Iowa.
“In Pella Corporation’s third year partnering with Iowa State, the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa, we are pleased to welcome 3M to the PEERS event,” said Pella Corporation’s Human Resources Business Partner for Engineering, Andrea Dana. Together, we provide students and adults with fun, engaging opportunities to learn about engineering careers,” she said.
Participants will learn about engineering and technology careers from college students and engineers employed by Pella Corporation and 3M.
“In addition to creating a fun, free evening for families, PEERS’ goal is to help increase enrollment in engineering and manufacturing technology programs at Iowa colleges and universities,” Dana said. “By introducing area youth to college students studying engineering and professionals employed in these fields today, we hope to expand the potential field of qualified engineers and technical professionals in the future.”
