Jane Shinn

Pella — Jane Shinn was born on October 7, 1940, to Lacy D. and Agnes Trump Lafferty in Ravencliff, West Virginia.  She passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of seventy-three.  She graduated from high school and college and taught school briefly in the state of Ohio.

On September 26, 1964, Jane was united in marriage with Gordon R. Shinn at Pinch, West Virginia.  They were blessed with two children: Gordon Ed and Charlotte A.  Jane followed her husband’s career in Electrical Utilities to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and then to Pella, Iowa.

Jane was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.  She enjoyed sewing, reading her Bible, and bird watching.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Gordon of Marysville, Iowa; her two children: Ed Shinn and Charlotte Shinn both of Marysville; her grandchild, Myklin D. Shinn of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her brothers, Darrel Lafferty, John Lafferty, and Ira Lafferty, all of Ravencliff, West Virginia; her sisters: Garnet Coleman, Mariea George, Rose Shutemate of Ravencliff, West Virginia and Ella Schriber of Lorain, Ohio.

Jane was preceded in death by: her parents; her siblings: Ruby Stock, Roy Lafferty, and Lacey Lafferty; and her parents-in-law, Alva H. and Sarha E. Shinn.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home.  Memorials may be given to Hospice of Pella.  The Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
