Margaret Van Wyk

Pella — Margaret Van Wyk, age 97 of Prairie City, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.  Funeral services wereheld on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at First Reformed Church in Prairie City, with burial following at Waveland Cemetery.

The daughter of Lambertus and Marie (Huyser) Van Dusseldorp, Margaret was born on March 16, 1916 in Otley, Iowa.  Margaret was united in marriage to Gerrit J. Van Wyk in 1937 in Otley.  She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City, was active in the Ladies Aid, Mother’s Club and F & F Club.  Margaret enjoyed gardening, baking and especially enjoyed being with family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Maxine Cowman of Prairie City, Gary Van Wyk of Prairie City, and Al (Kay) Van Wyk of Clarion; six grandchildren, Kaylene (Melvin) De Vries of Prairie City, Mike (Vicki) Cowman of Pella, Myron (Becky) Cowman of Odessa, Missouri, Terry (Diane) Van Wyk of Cedar Rapids, Doug (Tracy) Van Wyk of Clarion and Lee (Amy) Van Wyk of Des Moines; 18 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren.  Also surviving are four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Van Dusseldorp of Pella, Johnita Van Wyk of Pella, Gertrude Van Wyk of Pella and Gerri Ver Ploeg of Pella; a brother-in-law, Richard Van Wyk and many other family and friends.  Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 1998, a sister, Ada Van Wyk; two brothers, Simon and Francis Van Dusseldorp and a great grand daughter.
