Tulip Time was a favorite time of year for Curtis. He would always help move the church stand uptown and occasionally move strangers’ cars that were in the spot where the booth was to be placed. He was always at the stand for early morning vendor deliveries, cleaning picnic tables and cleaning the street. Curtis enjoyed eating his way around Tulip Time and enjoyed sharing the Dutch treats with friends and family. He also helped start and run the Pella Gospel Sing for many years. Curtis also enjoyed going on a few different mission trips with the church.
Curtis started working at Braafhart’s Amoco while in high school and worked there for many years. He left to work at Vermeer for a very short period of time, and then back to Braafhart’s he went. He realized he enjoyed working with the public. From there, he worked at Pella Car Care, Ring O Matic, and back to the automotive field at West End Auto. Curtis worked at West End Auto until May of 2012, when he was no longer able to work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Leo Vander Linden, and niece Taylor Lynn Guerena.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Heartland Reformed Church in Pella. Burial took place at the Graceland Cemetery. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
