Mary Magnant

Pella — Mary Jane Beyer Magnant was born on June 13, 1942, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Jeanetta (Mol) and Lambert Beyer.  She passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on June 7, 2013, at the age of 70.

Mary Jane grew up in Pella and graduated from Pella High School with the class of 1960.  She was employed in the banking industry for twenty-nine years, both at the Pella National Bank and later at Hawkeye Bank Corporation.   She was a member of the Third Reformed Church in Pella and enjoyed singing in the choir there for many years.

On October 18, 1991, she was united in marriage with Michael Magnant in Pella, Iowa.  Michael and Mary Jane made their home in Ankeny.  Mary Jane worked at the Wheeler Lumber Company in West Des Moines.

Mary Jane attended the Bethany Reformed Church.  She and Michael enjoyed square dancing and traveling together.  Mary Jane liked drawing and lending a helping hand to friends and family, to whom she was very devoted.

Those left to cherish her memory are the following:  her husband, Michael, of Ankeny; siblings Darlene Beyer of Knoxville, Paul and Cathy Beyer of Pella, and Ruth and Donald Pleima of Hollister, MO; her Aunt Esther of Pella; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, Stanley Beyer. 

Funeral services were held Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.  Burial took place at the Asbury Cemetery near Knoxville, Iowa.
