Donald Hessing

Pella — Donald D. Hessing, 78, formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed from this life on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Throughout his life, Donald was a very generous and giving person. In agreement with his utmost desire and wishes, his body was gifted to the Body Donor Program at Des Moines University for anatomical and surgical studies. There will be no funeral services planned. A private family committal service will take place at a later date.

Donald was born on October 30, 1934, in Mahaska County, Iowa, one of five sons to Andrew and Jennie (Bloem) Hessing. He was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Donald was self-employed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by three brothers, Peter Hessing of Pella, IA, John Hessing of Oskaloosa, IA and Elmer (Eileen) Hessing also of Pella; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Donald was preceded into eternal life by his parents; and one brother, Marvin Hessing.
