On September 10, 1955, Mary and Jerry J. Dawley were united in marriage and had two babies who were born prematurely and five children: Jody Ann, Wade J, Suzette Kathryn, Connie Jean and Kelly Patrick. Jerry was a football, basketball, track and baseball coach at the Melcher/Dallas and Tri-County School Systems from 1960-69 and they made their home in the New Sharon and Montezuma, Iowa area where they also farmed.
Jerry passed away on October 3, 1982, following a battle with cancer at the age of 44 years.
On June 3, 1988, she and Larry Eugene Toom were united in marriage at Pella, Iowa. This marriage added three step-children to their family: Todd, Nancy and Carol.
Mary owned and operated the boutique, AnnaVieves, in Pella and was a member of the Pella Garden Club and a bridge club. She volunteered for Hospice of Pella and sang in the church choir at the Second Reformed Church in Pella.
On Saturday morning, August 17, 2013, Mary passed away at the age of 75 years at Jefferson Place in Pella where she had been a resident since July, 2010.
