Boater Input Needed

Pella — Enjoy boating on Lake Red Rock or the Des Moines River?  The local Lake Red Rock Corps of Engineers and Red Rock Lake Association received information on an opportunity to participate in a study on aquatic invasive species.  This focus group discussion is part of a larger national initiative and all inquiries are to be directed to Darrick Evensen of Cornell University.

Talk about your boating experience over a free dinner!  On Thursday, May 10, from 5:30-7:30 pm, a researcher from Cornell University will be holding a focus group discussion with local residents to better understand how recreational boaters make choices about where they recreate, what types of experiences they seek, and how their recreation options and behaviors might change due to presence of aquatic invasive species (for example: Asian carp, zebra mussels, aquatic weeds).

All participants will receive a free catered dinner and a $25 Visa gift card for participating.

Cornell University is working with the US Army Corps of Engineers to understand the current and potential future effects of aquatic invasive species on local lake and river use.  The discussion will take place in the Moore Room, on the upper level of the Maytag Student Center at Central College (401 Broadway, Pella).

Sign up quickly; there is only space for 12 participants.  You must RSVP to attend due to space constraints.  To RSVP or for more information, contact Darrick Evensen: 518-339-0685 or dte6@cornell.edu.
