PCGS students honored

Eleven Pella Christian Grade School sixth grade instrumental musicians were selected to perform in the First Annual Sixth Grade Honor Band, hosted by the Prairie City-Monroe Schools. The PCM Central Iowa Honor Band Festival was held at Prairie City Middle School on Tuesday, April 9th in the PCM Auditorium.
The guest conductor for this year's Honor Band was Mr. Scott Bridges, PCM High School Principal and former PCM High School Band Director.
Students were nominated on the basis of progression in their lesson books, lesson proficiency, attendance, practice preparation, and outstanding musicianship.
Those selected to the Honor Band are: (row one) Danielle Vande Voort, clarinet, daughter of Rich and  Deb Vande Voort. (row two) Jacque Lensing, alto saxophone, daughter of Dale and  Lisa Lensing; Emma Stravers, trumpet, daughter of Phil and  Amy Stravers; Abby Te Grotenhuis, clarinet, daughter of David and  Libby Te Grotenhuis; Bethany Spencer, flute, daughter of Brenda Spencer. (row three) Jaed Van Maanen, baritone horn, son of Wes and  Taunya Van Maanen;  Jaydon Vande Noord, trombone, son of Jeremy and  Jodi Vande Noord; Joshua Van Hal, trumpet, son of Roger and  Lanai Van Hal; Ben Vos, trombone, son of Rob and  Teri Vos; Moises Carballo, tenor saxophone, son of Jose and  Karem Carballo, Levi Jansen, percussion, son of Bruce and  Gina Jansen.
