In its 31st year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, today announced Noah Clayberg of Pella High School as its 2015-16 Gatorade Iowa Football Player of the Year.

Central College seniors Taylor Cox and Jacob Wassenaar are joined on the school's football squad this year by freshman Trevor Argo, giving hometown representation to the Division III, Iowa Conference powerhouse.
The Pella High Little Dutch football team showed it has not missed a step following last year's undefeated championship season, in its 42-24 win over Washington. Statistics show that Quarterback Noah Clayberg has come back strong from his broken ankle, as he racked up over 200 yards on the ground and in the air.
The Pella Dutch varsity football team opens its season tonight (Friday, Aug. 28) at home against Washington. The Dutch are coming off an undefeated season, capped by the school's first-ever Class 3A State Championship.
The Pella Christian football team will host PCM in its regular season opener on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. The Eagles will be in action in a scrimmage against Knoxville tonight (Friday, Aug. 21) at 7 p.m.

The top-ranked Pella High Little Dutch baseball team headed north Wednesday night to take on Little Hawkeye Conference foe, the Newton Cardinals in a double header. Baseball fans were treated to two classics, with the Dutch taking one of the two.
Pella high alumnus Adam Carey (freshman, left handed pitcher) will compete for the Central College baseball team this spring. Also returning to the Dutch squad this season is two-time letter winner and Pella Christian alum Zach Zylstra. Zylstra is a senior outfielder who batted .339 during the 2014 campaign, with 38 hits, 15 runs scored, four doubles, two triples, 17 RBIs and two stolen bases in 33 games played.
The Pella High Little Dutch and the Pella Christian Eagles have both made it to the boys' state basketball tournament. Both are also scheduled to play Tuesday, March 10, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
The Pella Lady Dutch will host the Knoxville Panthers in a regional girls' basketball playoff Saturday night. Pella High will also host a show choir event on Saturday, which could create traffic issues.
