Pella was held to a season low 25 points in the Class 3A Regional Girls’ Championship game Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Saydel High School.

The Ballard Bombers qualified for the 2010 state tournament with a convincing 51-25 win over the Pella High Lady Dutch.

It was all Ballard from the start as the defending Class 3A state champion Bombers held quarter leads of 19-7, 29-13 and 42-19 en route to the 51-25 win.

Taylor Greenfield, regarded as one of the top players in the state, led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds to go along with a team high six assists.

Jessie Wheeler popped in 11 points in the contest.

Points were few and far between for the Lady Dutch.

Topping the Pella scoring charts was Kelsey Fynaardt with 10 points.

Hali Steenhoek hit for six points, Lindsay Bentzinger four, Courtney Kelderman added three and Jordyn Vande Lune tossed in two points for the Dutch.

Ballard carries a record of 22-1 into the state meet. Pella ends the season under the guidance of head coach Jerod Garland with a final mark of 18-5.

Odds and Ends

The season opened back in November with Ballard and Pella facing off in the first game of the year.

Ballard won that contest 62-46.
