Hoogeveen to play in all-star game

Ben Hoogeveen, a graduated senior from Pella Christian High School, will be playing in the State All-Star Soccer Match at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines.

The high school all-star match is slated to be played Saturday, June 21, right before the Menace take the field for their contest.

Ben will be on the West all-star squad when they take to the field for a 2 p.m. start.

The all-star girls' game will follow at 4 p.m. The Des Moines Menace will face the Kansas City Brass at 6:30 p.m.

Ben has been playing soccer ever since the third grade, approximately 10 years.

He plans on attending Northwestern College in Orange City where he plans to major in education and become a high school math instructor. Ben does plan on playing soccer in college.

Ben is the son of Michael Hoogeveen and Teresa Schippers. Ben lives in Sully and he was named to the second-team Class 1-A All-State squad.
