Pella Atletieks Track and Field Club runs strong

Many members of the Pella Atletieks Track and Field Club turned in strong results at the USA Track and Field competition June 21 and 22 at Johnston High School.

The Junior Olympic USA Track and Field competition was for both boys and girls born in 1990 and later.

Two members of the Pella Atletieks Track and Field Club won state titles and many others in the club qualified for a trip to the Regional Meet in Wisconsin.

The Results

USATF Iowa Junior Olympic State Champions from the Pella Atletieks Track and Field Club are:



* Kenny DuPre - 200 Meter Hurdles - (Youth)

* Jordan Pingel- High Jump - (Midget)



Pella Atletieks Track and Field athletes that have qualified to advance to the 2008 Region VIII Meet at Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis., July 10-13.

The Pella area athletes listed below will compete at the Region VIII Meet against USATF qualifiers from Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.



(Bantam Division)

* Annika Pingel - 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, Long Jump.

* Kelcey Blommers - 400 Meter Dash

* 4 x 100 Meter Relay

Tess Roorda, Maria Settimi, Kelcey Blommers, Kjersten Pingel.

* Ally Canfield - Shot Put, Javelin Throw.

* Kjersten Pingel - High Jump

(Midget Division)

* Mackenzie Gustafson - 400 Meter Dash

* Katie Canfield - 1500 Meter Run

* Jordan Pingel - High Jump, 100 Meter Dash

* Carson Klyn - 400 Meter Dash, 1500 Meter Run

(Youth Division)

* Kenny DuPre - 100 Meter Hurdles, 200 Meter Hurdles.

* Wade Pingel - 100 Meter Hurdles, Javelin Throw, Pole Vault

* Mathew Kissinger: Javelin Throw

(Intermediate Division)

* Jace Versteeg - 110 Meter Hurdles
