---- — The Pella High Little Dutch varsity football team had three players get recognized off the 2013 squad for work they accomplished in the classroom.
Nathan Clayberg, Greg Frommelt and Cody De Kruyff all earned academic all-state recognition by the Iowa Football Coaches Association.
To be eligible for academic all-state recognition, players must be a senior and they need to carry at 3.70 GPA or higher in school.
The Dutch finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 mark. It was Pella’s fourth regular season unbeaten campaign in Coach Jay McKinstrey’s 17 years at the school.
Pella won the district title and won two playoff games before they fell to Washington in round three. Pella finished the 2013 campaign with an overall mark of 11-1.
It marked Pella’s 13th trip to the football playoffs under the direction of McKinstrey.
Following the final game of the year, McKinstrey stated, ““We had a fantastic season. Our kids played with a lot of heart and they always gave their best effort. They are a fun group to be around and it has been a joy to coach them.”

New district football assignments will be worked on and released to the public later this winter.
