Warner shows way for Pella Dutch

---- — The weather was just gorgeous for the first day of October.

The Pella Little Dutch raced to victory at the Knoxville Cross Country Invitational.

Pella totaled 25 points to win the varsity contest going away. Next was Oskaloosa with 86 points, Newton in third with 88 and Knoxville fourth with 90.

Topping the charts for the Little Dutch were Ben Warner and Jordan Pingel.

Warner was second in the varsity race with a time of 17:07 over the hilly Pine Knolls Course. Pingel was third for Pella with a clocking of 17:11.

The rest of the Pella High scoring for the night came from Adam Sievers in fifth at 17:29, Levi Heschke seventh at 17:51 and Josh Bailey eighth at 18:08.

Also competing for the Dutch but not counting in the team total for the night were Aaron Houtz in ninth place at 18:17 and Travis Dingeman 11th at 18:22.

Oskaloosa’s Skylar DeJong won the varsity race with a time of 16:27.

JV

The Pella JV boys’ were just about perfect, totaling 16 points to win over four other schools, with full squads.

Sawyer Burton won the JV race with a time of 17:45 for the Dutch. Nick Bernhagen was second at 17:51.

Middle School

Ethan Poulter was third for the Dutch in the middle school portion of the meet. Pella was third in the team standings with 91 points,

Poulter’s time for the Dutch was 10:53 over the two-mile layout.

Indianola won the middle school boys’ race with 28 points followed by Oskaloosa with 61 and Pella in third with 91 points.
