Rewarding soccer season for Pella High

The Pella Chronicle

---- — In looking back, Pella High varsity boys’ soccer coach Mark Solomon replied,”It was a very rewarding season for our team. We came into the year unsure of who we were as a program, having lost so many seniors (13) from last season’s state success. However, our senior leaders -- led by captains Jacob Vollmar, Ben Robertson, and Coleman Neil -- were completely responsible for bringing the team together throughout the season. They showed leadership, support, and really created a “family” identity for this group. I have no doubt that is a major reason for our success.”

Pella collected their fourth straight Little Hawkeye Conference title, sharing the crown with Norwalk, this season.

Solomon added, “And it’s very special to be the first soccer team to repeat at the State Tournament in consecutive years, finishing in 4th place this year. Fourth is the second highest that Pella has ever reached,”

The Dutch finished the 2013 season with a final mark of 14-7-2.

In closing Solomon commented, “We have a quality group of younger players returning next season. They’ve had some great experiences, and we’re looking forward to continuing this legacy for our program.”
