Pella — The Pella High Little Dutch's outstanding football season came to a close Friday night, with a 28-0 loss to Washington.
The Dutch's defense put on a show in the first half, holding the Washington Demons to just seven points. Offensively, the Dutch struggled and reached the red zone once. They were unable to get across the goal line and a short field goal attempt was blocked.
As the half came to a close, Dutch standout Noah Clayberg suffered an arm injury. He did not return to play in the second half.
Washington capitalized on its momentum and scored three more touchdowns in the second half to secure their trip to the UNI-Dome.
"It was a great season," Pella Head Coach Jay McKinstrey said after the game. "We just didn't play as well as we would have like to have tonight."
The Dutch finish the season at 11-1. At the end of the game, Athletic Director Dale Otte presented the team with a trophy in recognition of its undefeated regular season and strong playoff run.
