PC boys second at the Chariton Cross Country Invitational

---- — Pella Christian saved their best for last. The Eagles ended the regular season with a second place finish at the Chariton Cross Country Invitational last Thursday.

The Eagles scored 49 points, trailing only Davis County with 23 points.

The PC varsity girls’ team was third in a five-team field at Chariton with 83 points. Again Davis County won with 26 points.

Pella Christian also captured both middle school titles. The PC Middle School Girls’ team had 20 points to slip past Chariton with 57.

The PC Middle School Boys’ team had 40 points to win a tight battled with S.E. Warren with 44 and Chariton with 48 points.

Jacob Lensing was second in the varsity 5K race for the Eagles. Lensing ran 17:12. Also cracking the top 10 for the Eagles were Grant Dunsbergen in sixth at 18:09 and Jonathan Beltman in 10th with a time of 18:36.

Marina Shannon had a top 10 finish for the PC Eagles varsity girls’ squad with a time of 17:10, in seventh place.

In JV action the Eagles’ leader was Gabriel Soler in sixth place at 20:10. The PC JV Boys’ were second to Davis County. The Mustangs totaled 18 points and PC had 58.

In Middle School action the Eagles had a pair of winners. Lindsay Breon won the girls’ 1.9 mile event with a time of 15:21 and Nathan VerMeer won the boys’ race timed at 13:16.

PC Coach Jocelyn Meinders commented, “This is always a great meet to end on. It’s a fast course with smaller teams, so we can get great times, great places and run competitively.”
