Winners of the 2012 Marion County Photo Contest were announced today at the Marion County Fair. The annual contest is sponsored by Marion County Extension & Outreach and the Marion County Development Commission (MCDC). This year nearly 300 photos were entered in the contest, which is open to all amateur photographers.

There were two divisions in the contest—adult and youth (17 and younger).—and three categories in each division; scenic, wildlife, and people. Entries were judged by a panel of four judges (Robyn King,“Studio 92”; Sharon Thill; Tisha Pol, TP Photography”; and Nicole Smith, “Nicole Smith Photography”). Photos were judged on their creativity, photographic quality and their effectiveness in portraying Marion County. The three top photos in each category were selected for exhibit throughout the county during the rest of the year. Best of Show was also named. Photos will also be used in a 2013 Marion County Calendar.
