The Pella Opera House is excited to host the 2019 Festival of Trees this holiday season.
The festival is a winter wonderland of trees, lights and decorations. Guests can purchase unique, one-of-a-kind Christmas decor in the Pella Opera Houses’ Boutique on the Balcony. Executive Director Cyndi Atkins says she’s especially excited for the boutique.
“A lantern you can buy at a variety of different stores is personally decorated by our volunteers, adding greenery and different Christmas ornaments to each piece,” says Atkins. “It’s an exciting thing for me to see and for us to have here.
Guests can also bid on beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and centerpieces through a silent auction. Atkins says different groups and organizations donate and decorate each item.
Guests can now bid on items and pay online with their smartphones, which Cyndi says is new this year. Interested bidders will receive a notification if they are outbid by someone else. All proceeds will benefit Pella Opera House educational and youth programming.
“The arts are something that I love seeing presented to young people,” says Atkins. “For us, it’s just so tremendous for us to see things come in and be here for people to donate toward and support.”
The festival is open to the public Nov. 18 to Dec. 7, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
