Members of the Pella community viewed the completed Dutch heritage mural on October 12. Native Pella artist Ryan Bentzinger celebrated the mural’s completion with an unveiling party at In’t Veld’s Meat Market and Opa’s Deli.

Ryan Bentzinger, an artist native to Pella, celebrated the completion of his Dutch landscape mural with an unveiling party on Oct. 12.

Bentzinger’s mural depicts the history and local values of Pella. The mural is located in the Oost Port Alley on the south side of In’t Veld’s Meat Market and Opa’s Deli.

“It’s exciting,” Bentzinger said of the finished mural. “I feel the hometown love. It’s good to see everyone.”

With colder weather quickly approaching, Bentzinger says he is wrapping up with murals for the season. He is currently completing a mural in Grinnell, and plans to spend his time working in the studio and teaching at Willowwind School in Iowa City once finished.

Bentzinger graduated from Pella High School in 2007. He is now a teaching artist based out of Iowa City.
