Tyler Klyn, the Registered Representative at Leighton Investments in Pella, recently earned his Certified Financial Planner mark and Chartered Financial Consultant certification after successfully completing the required education and testing.

“I became interested in continuing my education in this way first and foremost with my clients in mind,” shared Klyn. “I knew this opportunity would provide me with more tools to serve people well. Another draw included the opportunity to see other methods of approach in the industry.”

Both designations identify an individual who has met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements necessary for the titles, and they indicate a comprehensive education that addresses all aspects of personal financial planning, with a focus on practical, real-world applications.

Klyn completed a diverse amount of coursework over the last year and a half, covering topics like the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits and estate planning.

The final step towards earning the CFP® certification required Klyn to sit for and pass a seven-hour cumulative exam. Both the marks also require Klyn to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold professional and ethical best practices.

The CFP® Board is a nonprofit certification organization with a mission to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning.

“Tyler’s strong commitment to the clients we serve is enhanced with these professional designations. We applaud his efforts and expanded depth of knowledge,” shared Senior Vice President of Leighton Investments Services Mark Ellingson.

Klyn has worked at the company since 2013 and seeks to serve his clients with respect, dedication and knowledge as they work towards financial goals. After graduating from Northwestern College in Orange City, Klyn started working for the company (formerly VSR Financial Services). The financial industry intrigued him as it combined his passions for teaching, numbers and finances. Since then, he’s discovered this career to be a perfect fit.

Klyn and the rest of the company’s staff proudly serve the community of Pella and surrounding areas. Klyn thrives off helping individuals understand the complicated world of investments and retirement planning and looks forward to how these two new designations will help him better serve those he works with.
