There's always something happening at Lake Red Rock. Check out these upcoming activities:
Red Rock: The Town Beneath the Lake on August 16, 7 p.m. at the Red Rock Visitor Center
The town of Red Rock was a thriving, industrious community and home to many pioneering people. Once hopeful that the Red Rock Dam would save them from the Des Moines River's frequent flooding, it eventually sealed their fate.
Building the Red Rock Dam on August 17, 10 a.m. at the Red Rock Visitor Center
In March 1969, the Des Moines River Valley changed forever as the newly constructed Red Rock Dam closed its gates for the first time, creating the reservoir we know as Lake Red Rock. Join a park ranger to learn how the dam was built and how it changed the Red Rock area.
Let's Go Paddling! on August 17, 1-3 p.m. at Roberts Creek East Boat Ramp
Enjoy the chance to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day. Give one or both types of watercraft a try and see how much fun paddling can be. You must be at least 10 years old to use kayaks. Life jackets will be provided. Programs may be canceled if inclement weather and wind conditions.
Programs are free of charge and registration is not needed. Outdoor activities will be canceled if raining or inclement weather.
