The Pella Professional and Business Women’s Forum will feature guest speaker Kent Stock on Thursday, Oct. 17.
The event will be held at Central College Conference Center 1 from 12 to 1 p.m.
A teacher, coach, middle school principal and powerful speaker, Stock is also the man who coached the Norway baseball team during their now-famous final season.
As depicted in the 2007 film “The Final Season,” the nationally recognized Norway baseball team came together under then first-year head baseball coach Stock. The team defied all the odds and won Norway’s 20th state title in what would become the team’s final season before merging with a bigger, neighboring school district.
Stock authored a book titled, “Heading for Home: My Journey from Little League to Hollywood” outlining his life’s journey and the behind the scenes stories of filming a movie.
Stock was born and raised in Ankeny where he excelled at baseball. He continued his baseball career at Waldorf College and Luther College. In 1985, Stock began a teaching and coaching career that spanned 23 years. Today, Stock is a vice-president at Community Savings Bank in Robins.
Stock currently lives in Marion with his wife Laurie and has two daughters at the University of Iowa.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Tammy Sauer at firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
