Annaliese Admiraal is the top female runner back on the Pella Christian varsity cross country team this fall.Admiraal, a senior, already ranks among the top five times during in at the school in the 5k run. PC Coach Mike Buchheit expects Admiraal to challenge for a berth at the State Meet this fall. Three other senior letter winners return to the squad in 2019, Sydney Hooyer, Annika Terpstra and Mira Ford. A total of eight girls are on the squad. A year ago the Eagles struggled to post a girls’ varsity score due to not enough runners on the team.“The strength of the team is a commitment to a plan,” Buchheit said.Tessa Brouwer is a young runner who Buchheit said you need to keep an eye on.“We have two runners sharing time with other activities, Brouwer and Joslyn Terpstra. We anticipate having a real chance at getting to State in Cross Country,” Buchheit replied.

Odds and Ends

The Eagles will run in Pella Sept. 7 at the Pella Invite, held at Central College. The Saturday meet starts at 9:30 a.m.
