Pella’s Brooke Jorgensen won three of five matches at the 2019 Girls’ State Tennis Tournament in singles play.

The Pella seniors knocked off Anna Freiburger of Wahlert, Catholic 6-1, 6-2.

Next was a loss to Sophie Walker of Red Oak 4-6, 0-6.

Brooke then beat Macy Baker of Red Oak 6-0, 6-0 and Olivia Phillips of Waverly-Shell Rock 6-0, 6-1.

In the match to determine fifth place, Jorgensen was upended by Sofia Ordinteva of Saydel 4-6, 4-6.

It was a nice four-year career for Brooke as she played in four state tournaments, three of them in singles action.

In 2016 she was sixth at state in doubles play while participating for Pella Christian.

In 2017 and 2018 while at Pella High she was 3rd in singles each year. Toss in the sixth place finish at State this year and it has been a decorated high school career for the Pella senior.

The Dutch were coached by Josh McCollam.

McCollam stated, “Since joining Pella her sophomore year, Brooke Jorgensen has led the Lady Dutch Tennis program as the No. 1 player. In her high school career, (freshman year as Pella Christian's No. 1 player), Brooke has amassed a singles record of 76-13. She is a four-time LHC Tournament Flight 1 Singles Champion and a four-time State place-winner.”

Brooke looks to play college tennis at Winona State University for the Warriors.
