For the third year in a row the Pella Christian Eagles left the Don Bosco Softball Tournament with a winning record for the weekend.
Coach Karen Harrill’s PC squad knocked off West Marshall 11-3 and Jesup 8-1 Friday, June 28.
The next day the Eagles fell to No. 9 ranked East Marshall 7-1 before ending the road trip with a solid 7-2 win over Don Bosco.
Against the Trojans the Eagles jumped on top early and often, leading 7-2 at the end of three.
Danielle Vande Voort was the winning pitcher as she went the distance,
PC backed Vande Voort with a 13-hit assault. Chloe Morgan was 4-for-4 at the plate. Emerson Sarver, Emri Agre and Natalie Harrill all added two hits for PC.
It was a huge game for Sarver, who had two doubles and five big RBI.
A six-run fourth inning was all the Eagles needed to top Jesup in an 8-1 decision.
Cheyanne Collins earned the win as she gave up six hits and one run.
Harrill and Terpstra each had two hits for the Eagles.
The Mustangs beat the Eagles 7-1 at the tournament.
East Marshall scored all seven runs in the fourth inning.
Vande Voort blanked the host team, Don Bosco on two hits in a 7-2 Eagle victory.
The Eagles had three hits from Vande Voort and two each by Anna Bonnett and Emri Agre.
Both of the hits by Bonnett were triples as she had two RBI.
Also collecting two RBI each were Agre and Vande Voort.
