Teresa Thompson’s Pella High Lady Dutch opened the 2019 softball season with a win at home against Ballard May 20.

Pella scored four runs in the first and four more in the sixth to run away and hide with a solid 9-2 victory.

Pella had nine runs on 10 hits and left 12 runners stranded on base.

Ballard tallied two runs on only two hits and left seven on base.

Maddie Parks was the winning hurler for the Dutch. She worked five innings allowing two earned runs. Parks struck out three and walked three. Working the final two innings in the circle was Ally Almond.

Pella had multiple hits from Parks, who was 3-for-4 at the plate, Almond 2-of-3 and Sidnie Van Vark, who was 2-of-3.

Brynnlin Kroymann was the RBI leader for Pella with two. Parks had the lone extra base hit for the Dutch, that being a double.

Rounding out the Pella High offense with one hit each were Van Dusseldorp, Kroymann, and Maddy Rempe.

Pella will play in the Oskaloosa Softball Tournament Saturday at the Lacey Sports Complex.
