Pella Christian handed the Van Meter Bulldogs, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, their first loss of the season Saturday.
The Eagles blitzed the Bulldogs with some solid defense en route to a 53-38 win in Van Meter.
PC improved to 11-6 overall as they have now won five of their last six outings. Van Meter fell to 16-1 overall with the loss.
The Eagles built quarter leads of 16-6, 24-10 and 34-26 on their way to the 15-point road win.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs were no match for PC. Van Meter was led in scoring by 6’9” senior Ryan Schmitt and junior Anthony Potthoff with 10.
PC countered with 13 points from their big guy Josh Van Gorp and they added 15 by guard Dan Jungling.
Jungling hit five of PC’s eight triples in the game.
Next came Jayden Huisman with nine points, Jake Pringle seven and Jack Vermeer with five.
The Eagles hit 20-of-44 field goal attempts for 45 percent accuracy. The Bulldogs were just 14-of-38 for 36.8 percent.
Van Gorp led all players in the game with nine rebounds. Pringle had four assists and Vermeer three. Jason Lai was held in check with just two points, but he led the team with four steals.

PC will face Oskaloosa Thursday for Homecoming.
