NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — Central College men’s track and field associate head coach Jim Fuller was named the Central Region’s assistant coach of the year as part of the USTFCCCA regional honors Tuesday.
Previously, Fuller was the regional and national assistant coach of the year for the 2018 men’s indoor campaign.
Fuller spearheads the combined events, vertical jumps and hurdles athletes at Central College. Will Daniels (junior, Geneseo, Ill.) is seeded No. 1 in the country for the decathlon (7,195 points) leading into the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Geneva, Ohio. Daniels also qualified in the high jump but declined in order to focus on the decathlon.
At the conference meet, Daniels was all-conference with top-three finishes in the high jump, pole vault, javelin throw, long jump and 110-meter hurdles. Lewis was the league’s high jump champion.
Caleb Jennings (senior, Spirit Lake) was fifth in the decathlon (5,054 points) and Nick Thompson (freshman, Newhall, Benton HS) was seventh (4,864 points). Additionally, Tanner Johnson (sophomore, Gallatin, Mo.) placed sixth in the pole vault (12-11.50).
