Pella was minus the services of their leadoff hitter this year, Alizabeth Van Dusseldorp in a non-conference game against the Ankeny Hawks on the road May 30.

Maddy Rempe moved to the top of the order and the Dutch never missed a beat as they rallied from a 5-3 deficit late to top the Hawks 8-7.

Three runs in the top of the seventh proved to be just enough to keep Pella unbeaten at 4-0.

Parks led the Pella offense with three hits. Adding two hits apiece for the Dutch were Rempe, Ally Almond and freshman Brynnlin Kroyman.

Kroyman had a big day with a single and double as she drove in four runs.

Collecting the other hit for Coach Teresa Thompson’s squad was Emma Pleima.

Parks was the winning pitcher as she worked all seven innings hurling 147 pitches for the night.

The Pella pitcher gave up eight hits, seven runs, five of which were earned. She struck out eight and walked five for the win.

Odds and Ends

Pella stole five bases, two of them by Almond. The Hawks swiped nine bases. Jasmine Rumley hit a home run for the Hawks in the loss.
