Pella Christian celebrated Senior Night on the pitch with a meeting of two of the best teams in Class 1A.

The No. 11 PC Eagles lost to No. 14 Des Moines Christian 2-1 Thursday, May 23 in a contest that was decided by penalty kicks.

Regulation play ended at 1-1 as did two overtime sessions which produced no scores.

The Lions prevailed in the pk session of the match 3-1 for the victory.

The two teams opened the season against each other and PC won 3-2 back on April 1.

After not giving up a goal in the first 76 minutes against the ranked Pella High Lady Dutch, PC gave up a goal in the first minute of play to the Lions.

PC never gave up and battled back to tie the match at 1-1 on a corner kick by Annika Terpstra to Lindsay Breon in the 56th minute of play.

The loss put the PC mark at 8-8 overall.

PC Coach Mike Buchheit commented, “While the result wasn't what we wanted this week has been a very strong week in our development. We feel we are a very dangerous 8-8 team and look forward to embracing our post season opponents.”
