Pella and Saydel were extended to nine innings in varsity baseball action June 6 in a game hosted by the Dutch.

Ryan Mace took to the mound for the Dutch in relief in the top of the ninth.

He fanned three of the four batters he faced to pick up the win.

Mace wasn’t done as he managed to break the 5-5 deadlock with a solo home run, which proved to be a walk-off, providing the Dutch with a 6-5 win.

Pella improved to 3-5 overall with the win. Saydel fell to 0-6 overall with the loss.

Mace, Nick DeJong and Gabe Thomas each had two hits for the winning Dutch.

Pella trailed early in the game 5-1 before tying the game on a bunt by Colby Van Gorp in the sixth.
