It has been a tough season for the Pella High Little Dutch. The baseball team fell to Dallas Center-Grimes in league play July 1 by the final of 4-3 in Dallas Center.

The Dutch had just claimed a 3-2 lead with a run in the top of the sixth, but the Mustangs rallied with two in the bottom of the sixth for the narrow win.

Pella slipped to 5-10 in league play with the setback.

Ryan Mace managed to collect three hits, but he was the only player with multiple hits for the Dutch. One of the hits by Mace was a double.

River Baker hit a home run, Nick DeJong added a double in the loss.

Other Pella hits were singles by Gabe Thomas and Kamden Lambert.

Mace suffered the loss on the mound working 5.1 innings and allowing five hits and four runs.


The Winterset Huskies left Pella with a 5-1 non-conference victory July 2.

Pella was held in check offensively, scoring one run on just one hit, a double by Noah Van Vark, which produced the only Dutch run of the night in the first inning.

Jason Knox took the loss on the mound for the Dutch working 5.1 innings. He gave up three hits and four runs, of which only one was earned. Knox struck out five and walked three.
