The Pella Christian Cross Country squads had season opening night Aug. 29 at the Gilbert Invite held at the Iowa State University Course in Ames.

The PC varsity girls were one runner shy of obtaining a team score.

The Pella Christian boys’ however was 9th overall out of 13 teams in Class B. The Eagles tallied 238 points. The winning team was Earlham with 45 points followed by Des Moines Christian with 61 points.

Varsity Girls

Coach Mike Buchheit’s squad was paced by Annaliese Admiral who was ninth overall in the 5K race. Next came Sydney Hooyer in 13th place.

Times were not posted for the night.

Annika Terpstra was the next Eagle to finish in 34th place followed by Mira Ford in 79th place.

Varsity Boys

Scoring for the PC varsity were Brayton Juffer in 30th place, Daniel Mora Demestri 34th, Kaden Van Wyngarden 52nd, Micah DeHaan 55th and David Bernhagen in 67th place.

Not counting in scoring for were Ben Gosselink in 77th and Austin Dart in 85th place.

The Eagles will compete at the Pella Invite Saturday, Sept, 7.
