The Pella Christian varsity baseball team opened the first full week of June with a record of 3-3 overall.

Saturday at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (EBF) Tournament the Eagles lost to the EBF Rockets 9-2 and knocked off the Pekin Panthers 8-4.

Starting with the win the Eagles rode the arm of Jack Anderson to victory over Pekin. The junior pitched four innings and gave up only one hit.

PC made it rather easy for Anderson by scoring six runs in the second inning.

Pekin closed to within 6-4 but Kyle Branderhorst finished the job on the mound with three innings of relief work.

The Eagles tacked on the final two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Coach Jeff Bruxvoort’s squad had two hits each from Matthew Bokhoven and Caleb Belzer.

Cole Webster and Lawson Bruxvoort each blasted one home run for PC in the win.

EBF

in the loss to the Rockets PC fell behind 5-0 and they couldn’t recover.

Devin Haveman took the loss on the mound working 4.1 innings and giving up five runs on seven hits. Haveman fanned three and walked three.

Bokhoven was the top PC hitter with three hits.

Lawson Bruxvoort, Haveman, Blake Veenstra and Branderhorst all had one hit for PC.

S.E. Warren

It was a painful 3-2 loss for PC to S.E. Warren in non-conference baseball action on the road May 30.

The Warhawks Bryce Hall and Will Dembski of PC were hooked up in a pitcher’s duel.

The game was 1-1 until the eighth.

Each pitcher also counted for the early offense. Dembski with a home run in the first inning and Hall with an RBI double in the fourth.

In the eighth the Rockets fell behind 2-1 as a dropped popup cost a run.

PC couldn’t hold the advantage as a wild pitch with the bases loaded and a pickoff throwing error proved to be the difference in the 3-2 loss.

Kaleb Bauer was the winning pitcher in relief while Lawson Bruxvoort took the loss on the hill.
