Newton knocked off the Pella Christian Eagles 7-0 in a Little Hawkeye Conference softball game played July 1 in Newton.

The Eagles were held to only four hits by Newton pitcher Peyton Maher. The senior struck out 12 PC batters and walked just two in earning the win.

The four hits by the Eagles were by Chloe Morgan, Ivy Terpstra, Emri Agre and Anna Bonnett. The hit by Agre was a double, while the rest of the hits were singles.

Cheyanne Collins was the losing pitcher. She went three innings allowing four runs on four hits. Collins walked four and had one strikeout.

Relieving in the game for PC were Alexa Dunsbergen who worked two innings and Danielle Vande Voort, who pitched the sixth.
