Newton and Pella High split a league softball doubleheader June 10 in Newton.

Newton claimed a 3-2 win and the Dutch prevailed 5-3.

In the Pella win the Lady Dutch saw Ally Almond collect the pitching win in the circle. She gave up only two hits in 6.1 innings of work.

Collecting the final two outs of the game for Pella and earning the save was Maddie Parks, who tossed six pitches.

Pella led 5-1 before the Cardinals charged back to within 5-3 with two runs in the seventh.

Pella had seven hits in the game, two of them were by leadoff hitter Brynnlin Kroymann.

Maddy Rempe, Alizabeth Van Dusseldorp and Ella Corbin each had one RBI for the Dutch.

Corbin, Kylie Tauke and Tori Van Vark each had one double in the game for the Dutch.

In the 3-2 loss, the Cardinals broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the sixth for the victory.

Parks took the pitching defeat despite allowing only four hits. Parks walked six and fanned four.

Courtney Thompson and Van Dusseldorp each had two hits for Pella, while Parks and Almond each delivered one hit for the Dutch.

Almond had both RBI as her single in the first drove in Thompson and Parks.
