Pella dropped both ends of a varsity wrestling dual they hosted Thursday, Jan. 30.

The Grinnell Tigers knocked off the Dutch 53-24 and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont won a narrow 40-34 decision over Pella High.

In the match against the Tigers, Pella won four matches. Pins by Braden Schulte (182), Braydon Peterson (285) and Ryan Hancock (113) led the way.

Ryan Hancock (113) won with a pin in just 19 seconds.

Also picking up a victory for Pella against the Tigers was Peyton Ritzert 13-2.

In the dual with EBF action on the mat started at 160 pounds. Pella built up a lead of 34-24 but the Rockets won the last three matches of the night at 138, 145 and 152 for the 40-34 win.

Pella actually won one more match than EBF with seven, but the Rockets had six pins compared to four for Pella.

Toss in a Pella forfeit at 106 and it proved to be a little too much for Pella to handle to get the win.

The Dutch had pins from Blake Darnell (170), Ritzert (120), Logan Schroeder (126) and Quinn Rhamy (132).

Also winning for Coach Jay Pike’s Dutch were CJ Smith (195) by the tally of 8-2, Peterson (285) with a 1-0 win and Hancock (113) 9-0.

Pella will face Oskaloosa Thursday at home in a dual meet starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament was held Saturday in Indianola. Norwalk won the team title with 247.5 points, Indianola second at 212.5 and Pella sixth with 110 points.

Ryan Hancock and Ryan Van Donselaar were each second for Pella.
