Following a pair of league losses to Pella Christian Friday evening at home the Pella High Lady Dutch bounced back in a back way to beat the Grinnell Tigers twice Saturday at home.
Coach Teresa Thompson’s Dutch beat the Tigers 5-2 and they rallied late to complete the sweep 9-8.
The two wins raised the Pella mark to 5-14 in the Little Hawkeye and to 13-16 overall.
In the 5-2 win the Dutch overcame three errors to beat the Tigers with a seven-hit attack that saw Pella scored tow runs in the fourth to tie the game 2-2 and they added three in the sixth for the win.
Maddie Parks earned the win as she pitched a 6-hitter at Grinnell.
One of the runs by the Tigers was a solo home run by Megan Doty.
Maddy Rempe led the Pella offense with two hits while Brynnlin Kroymann had two RBI.
In the nightcap, it appeared the Tigers were going to get a split as they carried a 8-6 advantage into the bottom of the seventh.
That’s when the Dutch erupted for three runs to complete the sweep.
Pella again committed three errors, but the Tigers were guilty of six errors in the contest.
Pella had 11 hits in the nightcap, three by Elly Cairney and two apiece from Rempe and Alizabeth Van Dusseldorp.
Cairney drove in four runs for Pella while Brynnlin Kroymann had 3 RBI and Van Dusseldorp plated two.
Parks, Kroymann and Courtney Thompson each scored two runs for Pella.
Cairney tied the game with a double and Van Dusseldorp the walk-off game-winning single.
Parks again earned the pitching win as she fanned four and walked four. Only five of the runs were earned.
