After opening the season with four straight wins the Pella High Lady Dutch lost two games at the Oskaloosa Softball Tournament played June 1 at Lacey Sports Complex.
The Dutch fell to the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets 8-0 and they suffered a 4-2 loss to West Burlington.
EBF improved to 7-2 with the win over the Dutch behind the four-hit pitching of Reina Taylor.
The Rockets blew the game open with a 5-spot in the sixth.
Ally Almond took the loss in the circle for the Lady Dutch. She pitched two innings and allowed two hits and three runs.
Ella Corbin finished the pitching duties for the Dutch, going four innings. She allowed three hits and five runs, walking six and striking out one.
Courtney Thompson was the lone Dutch player with two hits. Adding one hit each for Coach Teresa Thompson’s squad were Maddie Parks, Brynnlin Kroymann and Corbin.
The five Pella hits were all singles.
Pella led West Burlington 2-0 until the fourth when they gave up four runs.
Parks was the losing pitcher as she went 5.1 innings allowing four hits and four runs, one of which was earned.
Parks fanned eight and walked three in the contest.
The Pella bats again were rather silent as they had four hits, two by Parks, and one each from Thompson and Maddy Rempe.
West Burlington improved to 5-3 with the win and Pella dropped to 4-2.
