Pella Christian faced Dallas Center-Grimes on the road Friday night.

The Eagles played well for most of the night, but a difficult second quarter set the tone as the Fillies escaped with a 54-45 win over the Lady Eagles.

It was the second time the two squads had faced each other in the span of five days.

The Eagles led 15-13 at the close of the first quarter with Allison Van Gorp popping in eight points for the Eagles.

Quarter number two saw the PC woes attack. PC managed just three points in the second quarter as they trailed 25-18 at halftime.

Julia Reis came in off the bench to hit for 10 first half points for DC-G.

PC drew close, trailing only 34-32 at the end of three. Each team had three field goals in the third, but free throws 7-of-8 by PC brought them within a deuce.

Jordan Cunningham took over in the fourth for the Fillies.

She finished the game with 14, 10 of them coming in the critical fourth quarter.

Joining Cunningham in double digits was Reis with 19.

PC was paced by Van Gorp with 20 points and Emma Witzenberg with 12. Next was Chloe Morgan with four, Joslyn Terpstra, Anna Bonnett and Avery Baugh each had three points.

The Fillies improved to 13-5 overall and 9-3 in the league while the Eagles now stand at 2-17 overall and 1-11 in the league.

The Eagles travel to Oskaloosa Thursday to face the Indians in a girl-boy doubleheader.
