State Skeet Award Winners from the Pella Shooting Club

The Pella Shooting Team finished strong in the 2019 Scholastic Clay Target Program State Championships by participating in State Skeet at the New Pioneer Gun Club in Waukee June 21 through June 23. For this event, the Rookie Division (5th grade and under) and the Intermediate Divisions (6th - 8th grades) shot 100 targets on Friday, and Senior Divisions (9th - 12th grade) shot 75 targets on Saturday and Sunday for a total of 150 targets.

The Pella Shooting Team would like to recognize the hard work of their athletes. At the state championship, Lydia Brackin placed 1st in the Rookie Ladies’ division, and Ty Van Vliet placed 2nd in the Rookie Men’s Division.

Trenton Shawler was awarded 1st place, Dawson Geetings was awarded 2nd place, and Logan Bruxvoort was 3rd in the Intermediate Entry Men’s Division.

Madalynn Schroder placed 2nd in the Intermediate Entry Ladies' Division.

For the Ladies’ Intermediate Advanced Division, Josey Ridley was 1st, and Erin Mathes was awarded 2nd place.

For the Men’s Intermediate Advanced Division, Alec Vande Noord was 2nd.

At the Senior Division level, Erica Brackin placed 1st, and Haley Starmer placed 2nd in the JV Ladies’ Division.

Elizabeth Eisenbarth placed 1st, and Grace Eisenbarth placed 2nd in the Varsity Ladies Division.

Several squads were given awards during the state championship event as well. For squad awards, the scores of the three athletes on the squad are added together. For the Intermediate Entry Division, 1st place squad went to Trenton Shawler, Logan Bruxvoort, and Hudson Brackin. Honors for 2nd place squad went to Madalynn Schroder, Dawson Geetings, and Ryan Steenhoek.

The 3rd place award went to Jake Van Wyk, Alex Demuth, and Trenton Mohn.

For the Intermediate Advanced Division, 1st place squad went to Alec Vande Noord. Deacon Yeoman, and Ian Beyer. 2nd place went to Josey Ridley, Erin Mathes, and Keaton Ryken.

Awards are also given to athletes that recognize their hard work over the entire event season.

League awards were given based on the top three scores an athlete has achieved during the 2018-2019 season.

In the Rookie Division, Ty Van Vliet received 2nd place for men. In the Intermediate Division, for Men’s Intermediate Entry, 1st place went to Logan Bruxvoort, 2nd place to Trenton Shawler, and 3rd to Hudson Brackin.

For the Ladies’ Intermediate Entry, 1st place went to Madalynn Schroder. For the Men’s Intermediate-Advanced, 1st place went to Alec Vande Noord and 3rd place to Dacon Yeoman.

For the Ladies Intermediate-Advanced, 1st place went to Josey Ridley, and 2nd place went to Erin Mathes.

For the JV Ladies, 1st place went to Haley Starmer, and for the Ladies’ Varsity, 2nd place went to Elizabeth Eisenbarth.

There were also squad awards given for league. These awards are given to the top three athletes in each division.

For the Intermediate Division, 1st place went to Alec Vande Noord, Deacon Yeoman, and Ian Beyer. For the Senior Division, 4th place went to Elizabeth Eisenbarth, Noah Seelye, and Grace Eisenbarth.

The Pella Shooting Team would also like to congratulate two athletes on their All-State Awards. These were awarded to Elizabeth Eisenbarth and Grace Eisenbarth based on their scores from the weekend’s skeet event and their league scores combined.

Elizabeth Eisenbarth was also awarded with an HOA award which was given based on the combined scores from the state events in singles trap, sporting clays, and skeet.
